2017 American Express Istanbul Challenger held in TED Club, was completed on 17 th September with great success.

Having organised the trophy ceremony for the 69 th times, 2017 American Express Istanbul Challenger held in TED Club, was completed on 17 th September with great success.

Singles final match started at 14:30 and it attracted many tennis fans attention. Last year’s winner Malek Jaziri from Tunisia won over his Italian opponent Matteo Berrettini in 3 sets and won the championship trophy second time in a row.

Jaziri won the first set after a tie-break but he didn’t feel well in the second set and lost it 6/0.
Jaziri was determined to win the trophy so he played better against his young opponent and won the set which made him the champion of 2017.

The president of Galatasaray Club Mr. Dursun Ozbek presented the winner’s trophy whereas runner up Berrettini received his trophy from the president of TED Club Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tınaz.

Both players congratulated each other and told that İstanbul will definitely be in their schedule next year.

Last champion is number 1 seed again in 2017

Malek Jaziri, 2016 champion, is back in Istanbul as number 1 seed this year. World No. 80 tennis player from Tunisia battled Thiago Monteiro from Brasil and defeated him 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of US Open. Jaziri, who reached his highest ranking of 47 in February 2017 will play against John Millman from Australia in the second round. It iscertain that Jaziri will have a great performance in American Express Istanbul Challenger.

Istanbul Challenger welcome 6 top 100 players…

World No.88 Marius Copil(ROU) battled the number 8 seed Jo Wilfred Tsonga (FRA) and lost 6-3 6-3 6-4 in the first round of US Open. It was 5-3 Tsonga ‘n set number 1 when he hits an inside out forehand to take the opening set.

Then Copil made more of a match in set 3 but unfortunately he lost this set as well. Marius Copil, number 4 seed in American Express Istanbul Challenger, will be in Istanbul. The tournament is held for 69th time this year.

Thomas Fabbiano 2nd round in US Open…

Number 2 seed in American Express Istanbul Challenger Thomas Fabbiano win against John-Patrick Smith- 28 year-old World No. 202 Australian tennis player- 7-6, 6-4 ,3-6 ,7-6 in the first round of US Open. Fabbiano’s opponent in the second round is Jordan Thompson from Australia.
World No. 81 Thomas Fabbiano will be playing in the main draw of American Express Istanbul Challenger starting on 11th September.
